On the last weekend in March, my friend from Spain (Raquel), my friend from Germany (Michelle), and I all took a trip to Granada, Spain. Raquel drives a car in Seville so she offered to drive us to Granada which was so nice of her to do for us! It was a lot of fun driving there with them for a little girls trip. It took us about two hours to drive there and the same on the way back. We left on a Friday morning and checked into our airbnb after arriving to Granada. We only got an airbnb for one night; we spent all day Friday and Saturday in Granada.

On Friday, we walked around town and went into a cathedral. We had lunch at a restaurant around 2pm. This was a special tapas bar though. When you buy a drink, such as a beer or glass of wine, you get a free tapa of your choice with the drink! There are no restaurants like this in Seville. I think there are only some in Granada and in Madrid. We each got a drink so we shared three free tapas, and then every tapa that you order after that is only two euros, so we decided to get a fourth tapa to share. In total, our lunch cost us 12 euros!! Cheapest lunch I have ever had because we split it three ways so we each only paid four euros. After lunch, we got some ice cream and then walked up a street to a viewpoint where we watched the sunset. Then we went back to our airbnb and talked until late in the night.

On Saturday, we got up and had breakfast at a restaurant close to our airbnb. I had a yogurt bowl and some eggs and toast; it was very yummy. Then we walked closer to the downtown area and we actually peaked our heads into a church and saw that someone was getting married! It was beautiful to see. The architecture of Spanish churches are astonishing, definitely prettier than churches in the United States. In the afternoon, we walked to the famous Alhambra of Granada, La Alhambra is a huge palace that consists of Islamic architecture. It is well preserved and is visited by tourists and visitors all year long. It was beautiful on the inside but my favorite part about it were the gardens.

By the time we left the Alhambra it was about time to drive home. We walked to where we had parked and left the car and then stopped for gas on our way out of Granada. While stopping for gas, we also grabbed a coffee and sandwich for the road. Raquel drove us all home and that was the end of our short girls trip!

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that there are large mountains in Granada and when we went there was snow on the top of them! (See image below) It reminded me of Flagstaff.
