One of me and my friends' favorite things to do in Seville is hang out at Maria Luisa Park. It is a large park about a 10 to 15 minute walk from my residence. There are a couple different entrances to the park and the one you take depends on which direction you are arriving from. On one end of the park is a large grass field with lots of trees for shade. Here, you would see people laying on picnic blankets, playing games like frisbee and soccer, exercising, and reading, writing, or drawing. It is a peaceful spot to go and enjoy the nice Sevilla warmth. In other parts of the park there are patches of grass to sit on but there are also small pools of water that have water fountains and usually some ducks or pigeons resting in them. There are parrots and other birds that live in the trees of the park.
Furthermore, I have been there and sat in a small pavilion for a little to rest and enjoy a beautiful day. There are two pavilions I have seen there, one is right along the water and one is located at the end of a staircase. Another really cute part of the park I like to visit is a spot with a small pond and a water fountain in the middle. There are usually swans, small birds, and ducks that reside in this pond. It is very calming to go there and watch the animals play in the water and to people watch.
Plaza de España is another popular place I like to visit. It is located in Maria Luisa park. It was built by the architect Aníbal González in 1929. It is a beautiful plaze with a large water fountain in the middle that lights up at nigh. The plaza is circular and has a small river flowing through the middle of it with bridges connecting the middle of the plaza to the outer edge where the buildings are located. There are staircases on the inside of the buildings that you can go up and stand on balconies overlooking the plaza. In addition, there are four towers that stand tall along the outer edge of the circular building structure. I can even see two of these towers from the rooftop of my residence! It is beautiful to see when the sun sets.
