In the southern province of Andalusia, Spain, flamenco is one of the most popular music genres. Flamenco is rooted in the folkloric musical traditions of the Roman people from Andalusia. This main elements of flamenco are songs, guitar playing, and dance. It also evokes a wide range of moods including heartache, joy, tragedy, and fear. Furthermore, it is common and enjoyable to attend flamenco shows. These shows can range in price but most of them are around 20 euros. I went and watched a flamenco show earlier this semester and loved it! There were people playing guitar and singing flamenco while a woman and man danced the traditional dance on the stage with the musicians. I would recommend to go to a flamenco show to anyone who comes to Andalusia.
While being in Seville I have also listened to a lot of reggaeton. I usually hear this type of music in the bars and clubs and my friends and I play it whenever we hang out. Some famous singers I like to listen to are J Balvin, Ozuna, El Alfa, and Rosalia. Rosalia creates both flamenco and reggaeton songs. She is a beautiful flamenco singer, which is a bit surprising because she is originally from Barcelona and flamenco is not very popular in that region of Spain. Some of my favorite reggaeton songs of hers are La Fama and Malamente. I love reggaeton music and used to listen to it a lot in America, so when I came here I was extremely excited to hear it in bars and clubs. I have also found many new songs to listen to because my Spanish friends have recommended them to me.
